Art Styles

Wed Dec 10, 2008, 4:35 AM
One thing I like about art is that I really think a person's soul shines through everything they make and even when they experiment with different styles, there is always an inescapable theme running throughout their work. I love opening my deviation watch page everyday and being able to tell 99% of whose stuff is whose without even looking at the names on the work. I love that everyone's art has their own stamp of individuality on it.

So I thought I would do a fun thing with this journal and hopefully you all will join me. If you respond on here and describe what you think my style of art is...or how it makes you feel...or how you can tell one of my pictures is mine just by looking at it, then I will do the same for you. XD

  • Mood: Artistic
  • Listening to: Love Me Dead-Ludo
  • Reading: Otherland by Tad Williams (again)
  • Watching: Vampire Knight
  • Playing: The Sims2 as always! XD

I feel the same way! ^^ That's why I think it's so sad when people copy famous people's styles. D: So what if you can draw the sonic or naruto style, get your own. rawr. :I

Your style is very happy, even more serious pics are very colourful and pretty. I can always tell they're yours because of the bright colours. ^_^ (of course it isn't just your colouring that makes me recognize it, but that's the main thing)

Color is the dominant theme in your art. You have a distinct color sense and I'm glad that you are developing it because it's not something I see everyday. You may not realize it but your composition always supports the impact of your color choices.

Your composition is somewhat iconic in that your subject is usually front and center but because your color work is so vibrant and your handling of the markers is getting really good it keeps your art from looking static.

Your art is bouncy and upbeat, it has a lot of humor and I think you should go with that. I love seeing your goth kids because they are both amusing (in a good way) and happy. They sort of turn the whole brooding goth thing on it's ear and I like that.

You find the good in everything.

Hmmm, interesting journal...

My opinion about your art:

U draw your pics with sort of special cuteness in them. Each of them has optimistic feeling, but it can be due to various coloring.

To me most of your art is very feminine and soft, but not too soft, it still has a firm definition of line and color. You also have the anime style very well down pat...something I still struggle with. Your art to me would be perfect for a shoujo manga. And I mean that with the utmost respect (I know sometimes people use "feminine", "girly", or "soft" in a bad way...in that your art shouldn't be respected, but that is not what I am trying to say at all). It's one of my most favorite styles to look at, thus why I friended you. XD

Your art is very soft and sweet, delicate almost. I love your Beach fanart, but your style really shines with your dragons. They are technically great, but I love how you draw them with a soft touch and fill each one to the brim with personality. They are all so different and beautiful.

HeeHee! I fail at goth and emo art, I know. I think it is because the styles themselves fill me with such happiness (instead of depression, which is what one needs to pull off such art usually), the art just comes out really happy and colorful. XD

I know you consider your art dark or gothic and I agree, but I think you have a very mature take on the genre. Does that make sense? A lot of dark or gothic art is made by angsty teenagers and it shows (not that I think that is a bad thing...angsty teenage art is one of my favorites), but I can tell you approach it from a different place in life. Your photos especailly are what I would consider "gothic" and I love them! <3 Your coloring is also spectacular and so realistic...it makes me jealous sometimes. ;)

I love the sheer wackiness in all of your art. It makes me smile everytime I see it. The characters, the colors, the wonderful expressions and sheer silliness...they are all a delight to behold. I also think that you really succeed in drawing cartoony anatomy...all your proportions and hands and everything is always spot on and so well done. I have always been jealous of your ability to do that, beacause it is something I that I wish I was good at.
